07 Apr Today is National Doctors’ Day
WPTV’s Chris Gilmore goes LIVE with PCSI’s Dr. Luis Peña-Hernández, MD, FCCP for Doctor Day 2021.
Today people all over the country are celebrating National Doctors’ Day.
After a trying year, it’s a chance to thank physicians on the frontlines of the pandemic.
The total number of covid-19 cases around the world is at 127.8 million according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
The Center for Disease Control is reporting more than 145 million vaccines have been administered nationwide.
Doctors in our area say despite the continued pandemic risks, it’s their patients that keep them coming back to work.
“It’s what we signed up for this is another disease, among the million things we do this is one of them. We started from the get go, we are here for them, so the patients are our concern. The day you don’t like to do that, hang your hat up, even today that’s what drives you to get back to work,” said Infectious Disease Specialist, Dr. Ramprasad Gopalan.
Gopalan says this past year has been so busy, he’s only gotten three to four sleep a night and no days off.
WPTV’s Chris Gilmore spoke with three physicians about their experiences in the office and at home.
